Biographical Information
Im an advocate for the benefits of experiential learning and embodied living. At age 18 I travelled to and lived in India and Papua New Guinea. In my twenties my family life partner and I lived as houseparents in a (Sydney City Mission) Mission Australia family group home for 4 years with 8 adolescents. At age 25 I had our first child in a birth centre and 6 years later our second child was born at home. In 2005/6 as a family we lived and worked on organic farms in Europe and for 5 months I worked in a Swedish Rehabilitation Centre. From 2006 – 2008 I hosted over 30 people from all over the globe through the voluntary Help Exchange program. Between 2016 – 2022 I shared my home with more than 25 people from 15 different nations.
I have worked with people across the age span from 3 to 80 years of age in clinical, coaching, mentoring and group settings. I have worked with couples, parents, and families; youth at risk; students; people in rehabilitation; people with neurodiversity; retirees and elderly; people from refugee and migrant backgrounds, diverse gender, and sexual identities; emerging leaders in international development, and First Nations people. I know my stuff, what works, and how to champion learning, growth and healing for a broad range of people.
I have a talent for pioneering and establishing programs and services. Building relationships and making links across the community is natural for me. I am skilled at capacity building and cross cultural connections. I love to explore alternative options and assist people to translate their concepts into action. My interpersonal communication, mediation and negotiation skills are of a very high standard.
Some of the highlights over my career include writing and delivering Brain Gym® based programs for parents, pre and primary school children, retirees, special interest groups, and certifying teachers and health professionals.
I also enjoyed developing and delivering health promotion and wellbeing programs for a government health facility and multicultural specialist organisation.
Over a period of 15 years I co-facilitated community groups for hundreds and hundreds of first time expectant parents, separated parents and couples for community organisations. I have operated my own private practise for more than 20 years.
